Don calls me his “right hand.”  I am new to the staff, after getting sucked in by reading Don’s Marathon Newsletter and his book, “and the adventure continues ….” I do whatever it takes to keep Don organized.  I have a background in event management.  I worked for the City of Grand Rapids Special Events Division and Gus Macker Basketball, organizing 3-on-3 basketball tournaments.  My first love is running, though – I can’t play basketball at all – so that’s part of the reason I am here.

I ran cross country and track in high school, and since then have run countless 5Ks, 10Ks and half marathons, and two triathlons.  I’ve run the Fifth Third River Bank Run three times.  Each time I finish I tell my husband not to let me do it again, but then I keep coming back for more.  I have yet to try a marathon, but being on the Grand Rapids Marathon staff is kind of like drinking the marathon Kool-Aid, so I’m sure it won’t be long before I start training.

My husband Bob supports my running, even though he is not a runner himself.  We have two children, James and Mitch, who have spent a lot of time in a jogging stroller and know what it means when Mommy puts on her running shoes.
